My journey took an unexpected turn when I survived a near-fatal motorcycle accident that left me in a coma with a severe traumatic brain injury. Despite facing seemingly insurmountable odds, I defied expectations, relearned basic functions, and even ran the Marine Corps Marathon 442 days later. Life didn't stop throwing challenges my way, including the loss of a loved one in combat, and enduring my family's heartache daily on national news, but I've learned that it's not about the circumstances we face; it's about how we respond to them. I've thrived in my career, earning accolades such as Manpower Officer of the Year for the U.S. Marine Corps.
